Smarthistory is a Webby Award-winning OER textbook created by two professors who wanted to bring the artifacts of museums to students who couldn’t easily access them. Described as “a leading resource for the study of art and cultural heritage,” Smarthistory provides a comprehensive collection of videos, images, and essays organized around themes and approaches relevant to the study of art. Their resource on Ancient Egypt, for example, includes videos and textual explanations of some significant Egyptian imagery, concepts, and perspectives.
